According to new research by America’s Warrior Partnership and Duke University, the real number of veterans lost each day is closer to 44, once overdose deaths and misclassified suicides are included. VA [^1].
That’s double the long accepted “22 a day” figure reported by the VA.
These are men and women who served with honor and came home to find themselves overlooked, underserved, and overmedicated.
And it’s not just our veterans. First responders—firefighters, police officers, EMTs— experience the same invisible wounds and the same broken system that’s based on:
- Symptom management,not long-term solutions
- Outdated one-size-fits all protocols
- Long wait times
- Misdiagnoses
- Prescriptions with side effects never meant for long-term use
